SESSIONS & COSTS
The weekly sessions are suitable for babies from 2 months to 14/16 months accompanied by one parent or carer, and run in 10-week cycles. Many of the babies who have attended these sessions have joined up to three cycles, and gone on to join our Montessori Infant Community and our Montessori Nurseries (Clapham Montessori and Clapham Park Montessori).
Cost: £180.00 for the term – adjusted if you start mid-way through.

Babies can join this class from as young as 2 months old and stay up until around 16 months, or when they are walking confidently and ready to take the next steps, such as joining an Infant Community.
Yes, many parents have chosen to continue with Montessori education. After the end of their time at the Parent and Baby group, several children have joined the Infant Community and, later on, joined either Clapham Montessori or Clapham Park Montessori.
Our Parent and Baby sessions offer an introduction to Montessori for you and your baby. The weekly sessions, which last 1 ¼ hrs, take place in a carefully prepared and peaceful environment, furnished with beautiful Montessori materials, which babies can explore safely whilst parents are able to experience the Montessori approach in action. The inviting materials available in this prepared environment support each area of a baby’s natural development, aiding the development of independence, mobility, curiosity and concentration.
We run two sessions on Tuesdays (Term time only)
9.45am - 11am
11.15am - 12.30pm
The Parent & Baby sessions provide a calm, safe space in which your baby can explore freely and at his/her own pace. An experienced Montessori Guide uses her training and knowledge to carefully prepare the classroom to meet the developmental needs of your baby.
Each session focuses on one theme, chosen from a list, which parents or caregivers pick. Parents/caregivers receive information about the chosen topic ahead of the session.
The topics discussed include, among others: Observation, Aids for language development, Aids for Movement Development, Preparing a Montessori Home Environment, Weaning, Guiding the journey to Toilet Independence
During the sessions, the Guide will share tailored information with you, either on a 1-1 basis or in small group chats, about how you can help your baby both during the sessions and at home. The sessions offer tools for parents to understand and respond to their baby’s cues and to gain awareness of their developmental needs, thus strengthening their bond.
Parents and babies should wear comfortable clothing. Babies’ clothing should allow them to move freely and easily. Ideally, babies should be barefoot during the class (most of the floor is wooden, which provides a better grip). Adults can remove their shoes and wear socks, if they wish to.
Snacks and drinks
There is seating available for breast or bottle feeding. Parents of weaning babies are welcome to bring a snack and drink for them - a weaning table and chair will be available.
