CLAPHAM MONTESSORI
Ages 2 ½-6 years*
Located at St Paul’s Community Centre in Clapham Old Town, Clapham Montessori is surrounded by extensive areas of grass and trees, ideal for exploration and outdoor play. The lovely adjacent Community Garden contains a pond and beehives. Our spacious classroom is attractive and unusual with the resources to support and enable young children as they take their first steps towards independence.
*We offer a limited number of places for 2 year olds.

Children are welcome to start at Clapham Montessori from the age of 2 ½, and we also offer a small number of places for 2 – 2 ½ year-olds. The Montessori curriculum supports their development until they leave to join their Reception or Yr 1 classes, or up until the age of 6.

For the 2-yr old group (children from 2 to 2 ½ years old);
Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, 9:15 to 12:15, with the possibility of adding lunchtimes (12:15 – 2:15), subject to availability.
Children from 2 ½ to 6 years:
Morning session – 9:15 to 12:15
Morning and lunch – 9:15 to 2:15
Full day session – 9:15 to 4:00
Afternoon only session – 1:00 – 4:00 (includes lunchtime)
Extra classes:
Monday: Music
Tuesday: Teddy Tennis
Wednesday: Italian
Thursday: Dance
All from 12:30 to 1:00
NB – Extended hours are not included in Government funded hours
We go outside towards the end of every morning session to enjoy the Lower Churchyard, where the children can explore the wonderful space freely.
In addition, on Tuesday mornings we aim to spend as much as possible the whole session outside in the Lower Churchyard.
If your child is attending then, please dress they in appropriate clothing. It can obviously get very cold in the winter so lots of layers are necessary. Please do not put ‘best’ clothes on your child on Tuesdays! It will be muddy/dusty/wet etc and children should not feel impeded by their clothing. They will have the wonderful opportunity to climb trees, dig in the earth, splash in puddles and explore for worms, snails and spiders. In addition we sow, plant, water, weed and harvest a variety of fruit, vegetables and flowers, and rake up leaves, according to the seasons.
We offer healthy snacks and drinks, including fresh fruit and vegetables, milk and water, throughout the day.
Children who stay for lunch bring their own packed lunch.

Yes, we accept the 15-hour universal offer, and other funding schemes for eligible families, including working parents’ entitlement for 2-year-olds and 30-hour funding for 3 and 4-year-olds.
*We also offer a limited number of funded-only places for families in receipt of government support.
